In a bit more Detail....
I spent quite a bit of my senior school years thinking of ways to make money. I bought a collection of 1,000 novelty note image files from eBay for 99p which consisted of a normal £5, £10, £20 or £50 note but without the queen's head. Instead, it had a celebrity, football badge or iconic logo. I printed loads of these off, laminated them, then took them to school and sold them for 50p each. In all I probably made about £20, if that, but at age 12, twenty quid was quite a lot.
After a few weeks the novelty of the novelty notes wore off and I was again thinking of new ideas! When I was about 14, I started selling sweets of different types. I was buying these from retailers so I didn’t make much money on them. I then moved onto Bourbon's. I bought the 'Morrison’s' cheap ones on the way to school for something like 36p and sold them for £1. Quite a nice margin for a very easy transaction. I remember selling them for quite a while before again, the novelty wore off!
I'm not sure how I stumbled across the next product I sold to all my school friends but for well over six months I was selling Chocolate Milkshakes. There is a little story behind it. Our canteen had stopped selling them because they were 'bad for us' although, as I found out, there was still quite a demand - in fact a massive demand! Each morning I would cram my little school bag full of 4, 5 or even 6 of them! The best bit about selling these was the profit I made. I bought crates of them from my local wholesaler which worked out at 32p per drink and I would sell them for £1 - £1.50 each!
So selling those things at school was my first foray into business. Finding a product that is in demand, buying it, re-selling and making quite a nice profit! This then took me onto my next 'business' venture which was website design. I started my company in early 2010. One of my first websites was htttp://www.mytownsouthend.com which took me quite a bit of time to make. I then continued to make websites for friends and relatives all the way until I started at Safe Radio.co.uk.
In March 2010, one of my good friends at the time introduced me to the Internet radio station he was presenting on. I was taken along to a few shows and did a bit of presenting. After talking to one of the regular presenters at the station, Stephan Alvarez, he asked me to be a 'Co-Presenter' for one of his shows. That single move was one of the most important points in my 'Radio Career' because since appearing on Stephan's show on SafeRadio.co.uk, I spent the following year and a half on internet radio!
After appearing on one show with Stephan, he invited me back and week after week I was still on the show. After a while we got another show on the station, which meant that we had four hours a week. After a good few months on our shows, Safe Radio moved studios and applied for a FM Licence. We got it! SafeRadio.co.uk and mine and Stephan's shows were going to be on FM radio. We continued our shows as before for a few months and then Abbie joined the show and it soon turned out into a perfectly polished show.
By August 2010, the show was on 3 times a week, a total of six hours per week! We had even approached ‘Mayhem’ nightclub about sponsorship which they had accepted, and that meant we would promote their events and we get to go down to the nightclub and interview the celebrities. However, because I was under 18, I couldn’t go. Everything was going perfect until Safe Radio was suddenly shut down in mid-October 2010. To this day, I don’t know the reason why!
After we left the studio for the last time at Safe Radio, I spent a few weeks searching for a new Internet radio station to take me on board. I had been listening to ‘The Mix Radio’ for quite some time and so I applied to them. I spoke to the programme controller and he was happy to take me on.
After a few weeks of doing just my Sunday show, I was offered the chance to have another show on Tuesday at 5pm. I was on the Tuesday show for a few months before The Mix Radio Upgraded and I went back to Sunday's. After a long time on the station Darren Woodlow decided to take a break from radio and I was chosen to take over his monday evening slot!
In early Sepetember of 2011, I was approcahed to be a presenter on Power Radio. I accepted and started a club classics show on a Saturday Evening. After a while of presenting I then became the Station Manager and took the station to a new look/sound with loads more presenters which brought in alot of listners to the station.
Moving into early 2012, The Mix Radio undertook a weekend revamp meaning my Sunday show was removed from the schedule and I instead took over the Thursday Evening bit from Steven B who stood down from the slot!
This pretty much takes me to where I am now!
